Born: 09/06/1978    Opole, Poland

Position: Forward     Height: 1.82m    Weight: 81kg

Klose was most famous in his career for the 16 World Cup finals goals which he scored in his career, as well as winning the World Cup for Germany in 2014. The 16th goal came in the famous 7-1 shellacking of Brazil in the semi-final of their home tournament that year, breaking Ronaldo’s record. The last of Klose's 137 international appearances was in the final of the 2014 World Cup v Argentina, though he was substituted for Mario Gotze, who went on to score the winner for Germany. It's fair to say Klose's international career far overshadowed his achievements at club level - his tally of 71 international goals is a national record. He played for 3 Bundesliga clubs - Kaiserslautern, Werder Bremen and Bayern Munich, and won 2 titles with Bayern in 2008 and 2010. He moved to Serie A with Lazio in 2011 and spent 5 seasons there before retiring in 2016. After scoring a goal with his hand in 2012 for Lazio against Napoli, he asked the referee to disallow the goal, which he did. He is currently on the coaching staff back at Bayern. His dad Jozef was also a professional footballer with Auxerre in France.
