Wojciech Szczesny - 289.83 Performance Pts
Born: 18/04/1990 Warsaw, Poland
Position: Goalkeeper Height: 1.95m Weight: 90kg
It took the Polish keeper a bit of time to establish himself
as the Gunners’ first choice, having joined the Arsenal youth set up in 2006,
and went out on loan to Brentford to gain first-team experience. He was ever
present in the 2011-12 Premier League season and went on to collect two FA Cup
winners’ medals whilst in North London, as an unused substitute in 2014 and as
a starter in 2015. He left the Premier League to seek his Serie A fortune soon
after this second FA Cup win, firstly spending two seasons on loan with Roma,
before securing a permanent move to Juventus. Three consecutive Scudetti
(2018-20) whilst in Turin gave him a decent reward. His 84 international caps
included appearances at 6 major tournaments, one of which (2012) involved his
nation being joint hosts. However, he was sent off in Poland’s opening game of
Euro 2012 against Greece, and didn’t appear again in that tournament. He
announced his retirement in 2024 at the age of 34, before re-appearing 2 months
later at Barcelona, as cover for the injured Marc-Andre Ter Stegen.
