Giuliano Sarti - 288.50 Performance Pts
Born: 02/10/1933 Castello D'Argile, Italy Died: 05/06/2017 Florence, Italy
Position: Goalkeeper Height: 1.78m Weight: 71kg
Having
started out in the lower divisions, Sarti moved to Fiorentina in 1954, and
didn't have to wait long for success - lifting the league title in 1956, the
club's first ever Scudetto. They also reached the European Cup final the
following year, losing to Real Madrid. His 1963 move to Inter led to even more
notable triumphs - 2 more Serie A titles, in 1965 and 1966, plus the club's
first 2 European Cups, in 1964 and 1965. Keeping a clean sheet in the 1-0 final
victory over Benfica, to help secure a European Cup and Serie A double, makes
1965 a career highlight for Sarti. He moved to Juventus in 1968, spending a
final season there before seeing out his career in the lower leagues. Having
been such a successful, highly regarded keeper, he can consider himself
unfortunate to have only won 8 caps for Italy.
