Blackburn through and through, Bob Crompton represented his home-town club as a player for over 20 years, debuting in 1896. He won 2 League titles with Rovers, and 41 England caps. He missed out on a few years of playing, because of the First World War, and went on to manage, yes, you've guessed it, Blackburn Rovers. He died, aged 61, during the Second World War, in 1941. He had a heart attack whilst watching a Blackburn match and passed away that same evening.
