Martin Keown - 280.03 Performance Pts
Born: 24/07/1966 Oxford, England
Position: Central Defender Height: 1.86m Weight: 78kg
A central defender turned pundit, Keown was renowned for
being a tough competitor and an expert man-to-man marker. He started at Arsenal
in 1984 and achieved most of his success when he returned there in 1993, having
played for Brighton, Aston Villa and Everton in between. Part of a hugely
successful period in Arsenal's history, including Double success in 1998 and
2002. He was also part of 'The Invincibles' side of 2003-04, although he only
made 10 appearances that season. Had Ruud van Nistelrooy's late penalty been
converted, when Arsenal drew 0-0 at Old Trafford in September 2003, the
Invincibles record would never have been achieved. Keown took great delight in
taunting van Nistelrooy after his miss. He won 43 England caps but was more
often regarded as a squad player rather than first choice.
