Sol Campbell - 279.55 Performance Pts
Born: 18/09/1974 Plaistow, England
Position: Central Defender Height: 1.88m Weight: 91kg
Campbell controversially crossed the North London divide,
leaving Tottenham to join Arsenal on a Bosman free transfer in 2001. He won 2
League titles with the Gunners, so achieved greater success on the pitch
following his move but had to endure the ill-feeling (which often included
offensive abuse) from Spurs fans afterwards. Campbell scored the opening goal
in the 2006 Champions League final, though Barcelona ultimately prevailed 2-1
against Arsenal. He lifted the FA Cup as Portsmouth captain in 2008 and won 73
caps for England. Campbell's disallowed goals against Argentina (at the 1998
World Cup) and against Portugal (at Euro 2004) caused heartbreak for England
fans. As a manager, he saved Macclesfield Town from relegation out of the
Football League in 2019, before leaving due to the ongoing financial
uncertainty at the club. Another unsuccessful spell as manager of Southend
United followed.
