N'Gotty started out with Lyon, his hometown club, debuting in 1988; he joined Paris Saint Germain in 1995, and spent the first 10 years of his club career in France. He also won all 6 of his French caps during this period. Neither Lyon nor PSG were at the peak of their powers during N'Gotty's time, but he did have one major highlight - scoring the winner for PSG in the 1-0 1996 Cup Winners' Cup Final victory against Rapid Vienna. His 1998 move to Serie A brought immediate success, winning the title with Milan at the end of his first season; he also played on loan for Venezia during his time in Italy. Following a brief spell back in France with Marseille, he moved to England and is best remembered for his time at Bolton Wanderers. After 5 years in the Premier League with The Trotters, he moved down to the Championship, with mixed results. Promotion was achieved with Birmingham City in 2007; he moved to Leicester City the following season and suffered relegation to the 3rd tier. Having played a few games for Hereford, he retired in 2009.
