Marco Reus - 278.33 Performance Pts

Born: 31/05/1989    Dortmund, Germany

Position: Forward     Height: 1.80m    Weight: 75kg

A 12-year spell with Borussia Dortmund, his hometown club, was where Reus made his mark, and he reached two Champions League finals (both played at Wembley) whilst with the club. Bayern Munich (in 2013) and Real Madrid (in 2024) denied him winner’s medals under the famous arch. He did pick up a couple of DFB-Pokal winner’s medals though, in 2017 and 2021, scoring in the semi-final during both of Dortmund’s successful cup campaigns. Despite a long and successful career, Reus must feel like one of football’s nearly men. Dortmund were Bundesliga champions in 2012 (whilst Reus was still playing for Borussia Monchengladbach). The following season, Reus’s first with the club, saw them finish runners-up, which happened on six more occasions whilst Reus was in the yellow and black. 2013 must rankle most of all, since Bayern Munich pipped them to both Bundesliga and Champions League titles. Similar misfortune befell him at international level. First capped whilst at Monchengladbach, Reus suffered injury prior to the 2014 World Cup, where Germany lifted the trophy in his absence. He ended up with 48 caps but didn’t come close to winning any international silverware. Following the Wembley defeat to Real Madrid, Reus signed off his Dortmund career, and joined LA Galaxy.
