Whilst the
majority of Europe was mired in conflict, the Spanish league continued
throughout the 1940s, and Valencia were one of the most prominent teams. Epi
was part of the side that won 3 La Liga titles during the decade, in 1942, 1944
and 1947, and were runners-up twice more, in 1948 and 1949. Valencia had to
wait until 1971 to be crowned champions again. After 9 seasons with Valencia,
Epi moved to his home town club, Real Sociedad, and spent 6 more seasons there
before retiring in 1955. Although he didn't win any titles with Sociedad, he
contributed a season's best goal tally of 17 in 1950-51, to help them to a 5th
place finish. He also won 15 caps for Spain during the 1940s.
