Antonio Cabrini - 276.76 Performance Pts
Born: 08/10/1957 Cremona, Italy
Position: Full Back Height: 1.78m Weight: 72kg
Despite
Cabrini's penalty miss in the first half of the 1982 World Cup Final, it turned
out alright in the end, as Italy triumphed 3-1. This was the first, and so far,
only spot-kick failure in normal time in a World Cup Final. This World Cup
victory came in the middle of Cabrini's long and successful period with
Juventus. Having previously played for Cremonese and Atalanta, he joined Juve
in 1976, and spent 13 years there, winning 6 Serie A titles (and the 1985
European Cup) before spending a couple of seasons at Bologna. His final season
provided a disappointing finale to his playing career as Bologna were relegated
to Serie B in 1991. He was a powerful, consistent left-sided defender - in some
ways the blueprint for Paolo Maldini. He went into management after retiring,
which included a spell in charge of the Italian Women's team.
