Pierre Littbarski - 276.29 Performance Pts
Born: 16/04/1960 Berlin, Germany
Position: Winger Height: 1.68m Weight: 64kg
Littbarski
scored the opening goal for West Germany in the epic 1982 semi-final against
France, and really came of age in this tournament. He was an eye-catching,
skilful winger who provided a goal threat. The World Cup was at the centre of
Littbarski's career highlights. His 73rd and final appearance was in the 1990
World Cup Final victory against Argentina, and he came close to appearing in 3
consecutive World Cup Finals. He appeared in the 1982 final defeat against
Italy, and, although part of the German squad, was not selected for the final
against Argentina in 1986. This feat has since been achieved by Brazilian Cafu,
who played in the final in 1994, 1998, and (as victorious captain) in 2002.
1.FC Koln were his only German club side, and he appeared over 400 times for
them over 15 years, either side of a brief spell with Racing Paris. He saw out
his career in the J-League. He went on to manage and coach in many different
parts of the world, including Japan, Australia and his native Germany.
