Bordon was on the bench for 2 key moments in Italian football history. Firstly, in 1982, he was back-up goalkeeper in the World Cup winning squad, so watched on as captain and first-choice keeper Dino Zoff lifted the trophy. Secondly, he was part of Marcello Lippi's coaching staff during the successful 2006 World Cup campaign. He spent the majority of his club career with Inter, winning 2 Serie A titles in 13 years there, including in his debut season (1970-71). He joined Sampdoria in 1983 and spent 3 seasons there, before seeing out his career in the lower divisions with Sanremese and Brescia.
