Born: 09/12/1942 Stirling, Scotland Died: 07/12/1997 Mexborough, England

Regarded
by many as their best player during Leeds United's successful era, and he was
captain when they lifted numerous trophies. The phrase 'regarded as a hard man
and a tough competitor' can be used to describe many players from this Leeds
side, and Bremner is no exception. He left Leeds in 1976, after 16 years of
service, and over 700 appearances. He played briefly for Hull City towards the
end of his career, and also managed Doncaster Rovers before returning to Leeds
as manager in 1985. Whilst in the Elland Road hot seat he had some 'nearly'
moments, as he had done so often as a player, most notably in 1987. That year
they suffered an FA Cup Semi Final defeat, and also lost in the two-leg Play
Off final to miss out on a return to the top flight. He died in 1997, aged just
54, and is immortalised with a statue outside Elland Road.
