Probably his nation’s best ever player (and certainly the
most well-known), South Korean Son Hueng Min is much loved by Spurs fans,
having signed for the North Londoners in 2015. He’s provided many enjoyable
moments since joining from Bayer Leverkusen. His incredible solo goal against
Burnley in December 2019, which won him the Puskas Award for the best goal of
the past year, was one such moment. He broke through with another Bundesliga
club, Hamburg, debuting in 2010 before moving to Leverkusen 3 years later. He’s
won over 100 caps for South Korea, and is closing in on 50 international goals.
He’s represented his nation at 3 World Cups, in 2014, 2018 and 2022, only
reaching the knockout stage in 2022. However, his stoppage time goal in a group
stage match against Germany in 2018 sealed Korea’s 2-0 victory and meant that
the Germans, as holders, were also eliminated at the group stage. His best
season in terms of goal output for Spurs was 2021-22, when his 23 goals made
him joint winner (alongside Mo Salah) of the Golden Boot. An icon of the
Premier League, Son looks set to add to his 300+ appearances and 100+ goals in
the competition.
