Hernan Crespo - 273.47 Performance Pts
Born: 05/07/1975 Florida, Argentina
Position: Forward Height: 1.81m Weight: 78kg
Argentinian
striker Crespo spent the bulk of his playing career in Italy, playing for 5
Serie A clubs. His most successful trophy return came with Inter, winning 3
successive league titles (2007-2009). He first arrived in Italy in 1996 with
Parma, having joined from River Plate. Parma's flamboyant side of this era won
2 Cups in 1999 - the Coppa Italia, and the UEFA Cup (with Crespo scoring in the
final victory over Marseille). He then joined reigning champions Lazio in 2000,
and was league top scorer in his first season, with 26. After a brief,
injury-hit first spell with Inter, Crespo joined Chelsea in 2003. He was loaned
out to Milan, and starred in the 2005 Champions League final, scoring twice as
Milan raced to a 3-0 lead, though Liverpool eventually came back and prevailed
on penalties after a 3-3 draw. Crespo's return to Chelsea resulted in his first
career league title in 2006, prior to the hat-trick of titles with Inter. He
was allowed to leave for Genoa in 2009, thus missing out on Inter's 2010
Champions League success; he returned to Parma in 2010 and saw out his career
there. He played in 3 World Cups for Argentina; he missed a penalty in the
shoot-out against England after the 2-2 draw in 1998, which, sadly for England,
didn't prove costly. He scored in both the other tournaments where he played (2002
and 2006). He's been involved with coaching since retirement, including at
Parma, and he's now managing UAE club Al Ain.
