Vieri had a long and successful club career, but it didn't start very well -
suffering relegation with his first club, Torino, in his first full season in
Serie A (1958-59). They soon bounced back and established themselves in the
top-flight, and also celebrated Coppa Italia success in 1968. Vieri moved on to
Inter in 1969, and he won the Scudetto there in 1971 - things were definitely
picking up for him, career-wise, after that inauspicious start. After over 400
top-flight matches, he moved to Pistolese in 1976 and spent the last few years
of his playing career there; he began his coaching career with the same club.
He mainly managed in the lower divisions, but did have a couple of brief spells
in the Torino hotseat in the 90s. Although he only won 4 caps for Italy, he was
part of the 1970 World Cup squad.
