Johnny Giles - 271.39 Performance Pts
Born: 06/01/1940 Cabra, Ireland
Position: Midfielder Height: 1.70m Weight: 63kg
Giles
started out at Manchester United, and was part of the FA Cup winning side of
1963, but had a longer, more successful spell at Leeds, winning 2 League
titles. A stylish, creative Irish midfielder and a hard man (see also everyone
else at Leeds during this era). The Billy Bremner - Kevin Keegan incident
during the 1974 Charity Shield was actually initiated by a right-hook from
Giles that landed in Keegan's face. He left Leeds in 1976 to join West Brom as
player-manager and led them to promotion in his first season. Amazingly he was
also player-manager of the Republic of Ireland national side at the same time.
Since retirement he's been a successful journalist and pundit.
