Hervé Revelli - 270.64 Performance Pts
Born: 05/05/1946 Verdun, France
Position: Forward Height: 1.75m Weight: 73kg
Revelli
holds the joint record for the most Ligue Un titles, with 7 - all with Saint
Etienne. His first championship medal was secured in 1967, which was the start
of a run of 4 consecutive titles. Imagine his disappointment when they finished
in 2nd place in 1971. He then had a 2-season hiatus with Nice. They didn't win the title during this spell, although they finished
runners-up in his 2nd season; at the same time, Les Verts also missed out on
championship glory. The natural order was restored in 1974 as Saint Etienne won
another title with Revelli back in the fold - this was the start of another
great run of success, with 3 consecutive titles. Revelli's contribution was to
score with impressive regularity, especially in his first spell with Saint
Etienne. 31 goals, including 4 hat-tricks, in that first triumphant season in
1967 provides evidence; his first spell yielded 126 goals in total, in 189
league games. Having scaled the heights domestically, Saint Etienne sought
to conquer Europe. They came pretty close too, reaching the final in 1976, and
regularly reaching the competition's latter stages. Herve's younger
brother Patrick also played for Saint Etienne and shared in 4 of those title
successes; Patrick also won 5 caps for France, playing alongside Herve in 2 of
those matches. Herve played 30 times for France and was able to transfer his
domestic goalscoring skills to international level, netting 15 times.
