Pavel Nedved - 270.40 Performance Pts
Born: 30/08/1972 Cheb, Czechia
Position: Winger Height: 1.77m Weight: 70kg
In 2003
Nedved was at the peak of his powers - floppy hair in evidence, Ballon d'Or
winner, and Serie A title success with Juventus. This was his 3rd Italian
league title, with Juve having been champions the previous year; he was also
part of the 2000 championship-winning Lazio side. He'd arrived at Lazio in
1996, having risen to prominence in his homeland, most notably with Sparta
Prague. He was at the centre of midfield for the Czech national side for many
years, winning 91 caps in total. He was one of the stars at Euro 2004 (most
notably in the classic 3-2 victory over the Netherlands in a pulsating match)
as the Czechs reached the semi-finals. His last tournament was the 2006 World
Cup, and he looked dejected as they were eliminated at the group stage. He
retired in 2009 after 13 successful seasons in Italy, with a huge reputation as
one of the finest midfielders of the modern era. He stuck with Juventus after
the Calciopoli scandal, helping them return immediately to Serie A in 2007. He
also played briefly for Dukla Prague early in his career.
