Teddy Sheringham - 270.40 Performance Pts
Born: 02/04/1966 Highams Park, England
Position: Forward Height: 1.85m Weight: 78kg
Sheringham
was taunted in 1997 after he'd left Spurs for Old Trafford to win trophies,
especially when Arsenal won the Double in 1998. That was revised in 1999 after
United's Treble success. He scored the equaliser in United's 2-1 victory in the
1999 Champions League final, as well as the opening goal in the 1999 FA Cup
final win against Newcastle. He began at Millwall, and it took a while for his
career to take off. However, he was part of the Millwall side that won
promotion to the top flight in 1988, forming an effective strike partnership
with Tony Cascarino. He was renowned for his skill, touch and awareness rather
than pace. He scored the first televised goal of the Premier League era whilst
at Nottingham Forest, shortly before moving to Tottenham. He made his England
debut soon after this move, in 1993, and was a key part of the England side at
Euro 96. His display (and 2 goals) in the 4-1 win against Holland is a
treasured memory for all England fans. Went back to Spurs in 2001, and also played
for Portsmouth, West Ham and Colchester, before retiring in 2008 aged 42, after
a 25-year career and over 900 total appearances. Post retirement he has dabbled
in management with Stevenage and become a keen poker player.
