Ambrossini had a long and successful career, almost exclusively with Milan. The
fact that his first Serie A title arrived in his debut season (1996 - although
he only played a handful of games), and his 4th and final one was achieved (as
captain) in 2011, gives an indication of this. Throw in 2 Champions League
successes (2003 and 2007) and you have a pretty impressive CV. He started out
at Cesena in Serie B, and also had a loan spell with Vicenza early in his
career, but it was with the Rossoneri that he really made his name. He signed
for Fiorentina in 2013, playing for a final season before his retirement. He
made 35 appearances for Italy but wasn't selected for the successful 2006 World
Cup squad.
