Related to Gianluigi Buffon through Gianlugi’s grandad. Whilst not having quite as impressive stats (15 caps for Italy, compared to 176, for example), Lorenzo’s career was pretty decent. He made his Serie A debut in 1950 with Milan and won the first of his 4 Serie A titles with the Rossoneri the following year. He joined Genoa for the 1959-60 season, but they were relegated that year, so he made a swift return to Milan, this time with city rivals, Inter. This was the Helenio Herrera era, and Buffon enjoyed success there, winning another Scudetto in 1963. His appearances for Italy included representing the Azzurri at the 1962 World Cup. Lorenzo played his last game, for lower league Ivrea, in 1965, a full 30 years before Gianluigi came on the scene. Lorenzo was married to model Edy Campagnoli, who'd previously dated a goalkeeping rival at Inter, Giorgio Ghezzi.
