Grabowski spent his entire professional club career (15 seasons), with Eintracht Frankfurt, making over 500 appearances. He failed to lift the league title during this time but did enjoy success in the German Cup (in 1974 and 1975), plus a UEFA Cup triumph in 1980 - his final season, although an injury meant he didn't appear in either match in the two-legged final. That year's competition was unusual in that all 4 semi-finalists were German clubs. Defeated finalists Borussia Monchengladbach had ousted Stuttgart in one semi, whereas Eintracht Frankfurt overcame Bayern Munich in the other. 7th July 1974 is a special day in the life of Grabowski. On that day, he was part of the West Germany side that beat the Netherlands to win the World Cup on home soil. This was his final international appearance, and therefore a perfect way to bow out - all this on his 30th birthday.
