Alberto Gilardino - 267.01 Performance Pts
Born: 05/07/1982 Biella, Italy
Position: Forward Height: 1.84m Weight: 76kg
It may be
quicker to list the Serie A clubs that Gilardino didn't play for, rather than
those he did. He started out at Piacenza and played for 9 other top flight
sides before finishing his career with Spezia in Serie B, retiring in 2018. His
only trophy success came at Milan, but it was a big one - the 2007 Champions
League victory over Liverpool, where he came on as a late substitute for matchwinner
Filippo Inzaghi in the final. He made his highest number of career appearances
with Fiorentina, in 2 spells. He was quite good at relegation, achieving it with
Piacenza in his first season (2000), and playing for both Empoli and Pescara as
they sank in 2017. He almost repeated this feat in 2005 as well, as Parma
escaped the drop by winning a relegation play-off. Internationally, he played
his part in Italy's 2006 World Cup success, setting up the decisive Del Piero goal
in the semi-final victory over Germany; he'd also scored during the group
stages but didn't appear in the final. Since retirement he's managed a couple
of lower league sides.
