Plašil achieved a century of caps for his country; the Czech midfielder spent the vast
majority of his career in Ligue Un. The high point of his spell with Monaco was
the run to the 2004 Champions League final, where Porto, managed by some bloke
called Mourinho, defeated them. He left in 2007 to join La Liga side Osasuna,
before returning to Ligue Un 2 years later with Bordeaux. He spent 10 years
there before retiring in 2019; this included a loan spell in Serie A with
Catania, where he suffered relegation with the Sicilians in 2014. The 2013 French
Cup success was Plasil's finest hour with Bordeaux as he captained them to a
3-2 final victory over Evian.
