Full back Frontzeck was used to finishing in the upper echelons of the league standings early in his career. He began with Borussia Monchengladbach in 1982, before moving to Stuttgart in 1989. Bundesliga success came in 1992, and he represented Germany at the European Championships the same year. Things started to go downhill, league position wise, after he joined Bochum in 1994. Outcome - relegation from the Bundesliga in 1995. After a brief spell back with Monchengladbach, he came to England with Manchester City. Outcome - relegation from the Premier League (in farcical circumstances, with City not knowing whether to play for a draw or go for victory in their final game against Liverpool) in 1996. He stuck around for a while with City in the Championship, before returning to Germany with Freiburg. Outcome - relegation from the Bundesliga in 1997. He helped them win promotion back to the Bundesliga the following season. In 1999, he re-joined Borussia Monchengladbach. Outcome - yes, you've guessed it - the 5 times former Bundesliga champions were relegated in 1999. Relegations in 1995, 1996, 1997 and 1999, with 4 separate clubs - what an 'achievement'. Since retiring he's undertaken various coaching and managerial roles at several German clubs, including, unsurprisingly, Borussia Monchengladbach.
