Renowned
for having a powerful shot and scoring spectacular goals, Lorimer joined Leeds
United in 1962 and became another key component of their successful side of the
60s and 70s. He made his debut aged 15 and is still the club's youngest ever
player. He's also the club's record goalscorer, despite playing in midfield for
much of his career. He had a goal controversially disallowed in the 1975
European Cup Final. Leeds United's powers were on the wane after this, with so
many of their iconic stars having retired or left the club. Lorimer left in
1979 but returned to Elland Road in 1983, aged 37, by which time they were in
the second tier. He retained strong links with the club, including spending time on the board. He was also a pundit, journalist and pub owner after his retirement.
