Giacomo Bulgarelli - 262.13 Performance Pts
Born: 24/10/1940 Portonovo Di Medecina, Italy Died: 12/02/2009 Bologna, Italy
Position: Midfielder Height: 1.76m Weight: 71kg
Bulgarelli was a notable presence throughout the 1960s for
his only club, Bologna, also featuring prominently for the national side. He
appeared in 2 World Cups (1962 and 1966) and was an unused member of the
victorious 1968 European Championship-winning squad. His injury in 1966 against
North Korea meant Italy went down to 10 men, which partly contributed to the
ignominious World Cup defeat. He was a midfielder who regularly provided a goal
contribution, netting 7 times in 29 appearances for the Azzurri. His 17-year club career featured Bologna's
famous 1964 Scudetto, and he clocked up nearly 400 appearances by the time he
finished up in 1975. The previous year he'd won the Coppa Italia and had
converted his penalty in Bologna's shoot-out victory over Palermo.
