Juan Antonio Larrañaga - 260.51 Performance Pts
Born: 03/07/1958 Azpeitia, Spain
Position: Central Defender Height: 1.77m Weight: 75kg
Real
Sociedad's glory years were in the early 80s, and Larrañaga was breaking into
the team at this time. He played a few times in the 1981 title-winning season
but was ever-present as they retained their crown the following year. Although
they failed to secure any more La Liga titles in Larrañaga's time with the
club, they did achieve a 2nd place finish in 1988. The year before, they'd won
the Copa del Rey following a penalty shoot-out victory over Atletico Madrid,
with Larrañaga scoring the decisive penalty. He retired in 1994 having made 460
appearances for Real Sociedad; this included 5 consecutive seasons without
missing a game. After retirement he went into coaching and was also a
commentator for the Basque channel ETB1.
