Chadwick played for various clubs, mainly in the North West, most notably for Everton. He made his debut aged 19, in the first ever Football League season (1888-89) and won 7 England caps during his time there. He was a key part of the Everton side that won their first league title in 1891. This was before Liverpool FC had even been formed. He also played for Liverpool towards the end of his career, having also played for Burnley and Southampton (who were in the Southern League at the time). He became manager of the Netherlands national side, and they were Olympic bronze medallists during his reign, in both 1908 and 1912.
