Ray Wilkins - 259.06 Performance Pts
Born: 14/09/1956 Hillingdon, England Died: 04/04/2018 Tooting, England
Position: Midfielder Height: 1.73m Weight: 70kg
Started out at Chelsea, and was made captain aged 18, before moving to Manchester United in 1979 following Chelsea's relegation. Although many regarded him as a somewhat limited player, famed for sideways passing, this does him a disservice. He scored 2 iconic, skilful goals that stay in the memory - for England against Belgium at the 1980 European Championships (with a delicate lob), and for Manchester United against Brighton in the 1983 FA Cup final, with a long-range curler which led to an enthusiastic celebration. He played in Europe, for AC Milan and Paris St Germain, before returning to the UK with Glasgow Rangers. He spent most of his later career at QPR, including a spell as player-manager in the mid-90s. Since retiring as a player he combined coaching duties, most frequently at Chelsea, with punditry. He was a popular figure within the game, and renowned for being a nice guy, so there was a huge feeling of grief following his untimely death in 2018 aged 61. He suffered a heart attack before passing away a few days later.
