Edwin Van Der Sar - 258.75 Performance Pts

Born: 29/10/1970    Leiden, Netherlands

Position: Goalkeeper     Height: 1.97m    Weight: 87kg

Van der Sar is remembered fondly by fans of Fulham and Manchester United. He had 4 impressive seasons in West London, before moving to Old Trafford in 2005. His 6 seasons with United yielded 4 Premier League titles, plus the 2008 Champions League, and many United fans regarded him as their best 'keeper since Peter Schmeichel. His save from Nicolas Anelka in the 2008 Champions League final clinched the trophy over fellow English finalists, Chelsea. He started out with Ajax; he was in goal when they won the 1995 Champions League with an impressive young side. That same year he won the first of his 130 caps for the Netherlands. He joined Serie A giants Juventus in 1999 and finished runners up in both of his 2 seasons in Turin. Van der Sar decided to move on from Juve because they'd signed Gianluigi Buffon, so he came to England with Fulham in 2001. Van der Sar probably doesn't have happy memories of Wembley stadium. He had to pick the ball out of the net 4 times as England routed the Netherlands in a memorable victory at Euro 96. His last game as a professional was also at Wembley, as Manchester United were torn apart by an impressive Barcelona side who clinched the 2011 Champions League with a 3-1 victory.
