Gennaro Gattuso - 256.54 Performance Pts
Born: 09/01/1978 Corigliano Calabro, Italy
Position: Midfielder Height: 1.77m Weight: 77kg
Gattuso
was a tigerish presence in midfield for Milan and Italy for many years. The
successful 2006 World Cup campaign was an obvious highlight, as Gattuso's
hard-work gave the more creative players in the side, such as club-mate Andrea
Pirlo, more freedom to play. 73 caps in a 10-year international career yielded
just one goal, in a 1-0 friendly victory against England in 2000, which was his
first start for Italy. His club career began at Perugia, and he also played for
Glasgow Rangers and Salernitana before joining Milan in 1999. There were many
highlights during his Milan career: 2 Serie A titles in 2004 and 2011, and 2
Champions League victories in 2003 and 2007. The 2003 success came against
Italian rivals, Juventus, and the 2007 triumph over Liverpool exorcised the
ghosts of the 2005 defeat against the same opposition. He finished his
playing career with Sion in the Swiss League and started his coaching career
with the same team (as player-coach). He took charge of Napoli in 2019 leading
them to the 2020 Coppa Italia, with previous managerial roles including a spell
in charge back at Milan. Currently the boss of Croatian team Hajduk Split.
