Thiago Motta - 256.51 Performance Pts
Born: 28/08/1982 Sao Bernardo do Campo, Brazil
Position: Midfielder Height: 1.87m Weight: 83kg
Brazilian-born
midfielder Motta has won league titles in 3 different countries - Spain (with
Barcelona in 2005 and 2006), Italy (with Inter in 2010) and France (with Paris
Saint Germain, winning 5 titles, including in 2018 - his final year before
retirement). Both the 2006 La Liga success with Barcelona and the 2010 Serie A
title with Inter were accompanied by Champions League victories in the same
season. However, he was an unused substitute in 2006, and was suspended for the
2010 final, having been sent off in the semi-final thanks to a controversial
altercation with Sergio Busquets. After 6 seasons at Barcelona, he left in
2007; he joined Atletico Madrid but didn't settle. He then spent a season with
Genoa before joining Inter, enjoying a glorious debut season in 2009-10. The
following year he made his debut for Italy, by virtue of holding Italian
citizenship, and went on to win 30 caps. He'd also previously played twice for
the country of his birth. Ligue Un has become a virtual one-horse race in
recent years, since Motta came to Paris, as PSG's riches set them apart; except
for 2011-12 (when Motta joined during the season, and Montpellier came out on
top) and 2016-17 (when Monaco were champions), they've been title winners every
year since, which has continued in the post-Motta years. He joined the coaching
staff at PSG after retirement, before going on to take charge at former club
Genoa. Following this, he’s taken on management roles at Spezia, Bologna and is
currently in charge of Juventus.
