Born: 26/07/1921    Frascati, Italy    Died: 24/11/2013    Frascati, Italy

Position: Forward     Height: 1.73m    Weight: 72kg

Amadei made his Serie A debut for Roma as a 15-year-old, in May 1937, and still holds the joint record for the youngest-ever Serie A player. 5 years later he was celebrating winning the title with the Giallorossi; this was their first ever Scudetto and proved to be not only Amadei's only career championship, but also Roma's last title until 1983. Amadei was a consistent goalscorer and contributed 18 goals during that championship-winning campaign. After Roma had flirted with relegation in 1948, he signed for Inter, playing there for 2 seasons before moving on to Napoli. He retired in 1956, after 6 years in Naples. Although Italian league football continued during much of the Second World War, he still lost some of his best years to the conflict, and of course the World Cup wasn't staged again until 1950. Amadei appeared in this tournament, winning one of his 13 caps for the Azzurri. After his playing career ended, he immediately went into management, also with Napoli. He went on to manage the Italian women's side during the 1970s. He passed away in 2013, aged 92, so lived to see his 3 former clubs - Roma, Inter and Napoli - all lift the Scudetto during the 1980s.
