Tusseau's 16-year career, which began with Nantes in 1975, yielded 5 Ligue Un titles. His first club were perennial title challengers during this period, and he won 3 of his titles with them, in 1977, 1980 and 1983. He moved to Bordeaux immediately following this third championship victory. Bordeaux topped Ligue Un in both of his first 2 seasons, thus completing a personal hat-trick. He moved to Racing Club Paris in 1986, spending a couple of seasons there before stepping down a level; he joined Stade de Reims, who at this time were a 'geant endormi' - a French 'sleeping giant' who were struggling to recapture former glories. He retired in 1991 after 3 years there. Tusseau also played 22 times for France. This included 2 games during the successful Euro 1984 campaign, and 4 matches at Mexico 86, including the famous quarter-final victory over Brazil.
