Rame started out with Angers; they were promoted to Ligue Un in 1993, and Rame appeared a couple of times in the top-flight with them but suffered immediate relegation in 1994. He moved to Bordeaux in 1997, and enjoyed great success there. His 2 Ligue Un titles were secured 10 years apart - 1999 and 2009. The 2009 title was secured on the back of 11 successive wins, to push Marseille into 2nd place; the same team were runners-up when Bordeaux triumphed ten years earlier. After 14 years, and over 400 appearances, Rame left Bordeaux and spent a couple of seasons with Sedan in the second tier before retiring in 2013, aged 40. He also had a brief spell as manager of Bordeaux in 2016. Rame picked up 12 caps for France and was an unused member of the squad at Euro 2000 when France were crowned champions.
