Baumann has racked up over 400 Bundesliga appearances but is yet to win a full international cap for Germany. Being a contemporary of Manuel Neuer is probably the main reason for this. He’s been included in a few squads though, including for Euro 2024, so his time may come. He started out at SC Freiburg, and has now spent over ten years with TSG Hoffenheim, and is currently club captain. Hoffenheim’s rise has been meteoric; backed by investment, they have risen from amateur football, only turning professional in 2007-08, to qualification for the Champions League ten years later. Baumann looks set to be part of their continued quest to be a Bundesliga and European force.
