Renato Zaccarelli - 253.78 Performance Pts
Born: 18/01/1951 Ancona, Italy
Position: Midfielder Height: 1.77m Weight: 70kg
Having
started out in the lower leagues, Zaccarelli made his Serie A debut with Verona
in 1973-74. He played in every game that season, but Verona was demoted after a
bribery scandal. He moved to Torino after that one season in Verona, thus
embarking on a 13-year career in Turin. He was part of the Scudetto-winning
side of 1976. The title race was closely-fought that year, with Torino
eventually finishing 2 points clear of their great rivals, Juventus. An 8-match
unbeaten run at the end of the season, which featured 2 goals from Zaccarelli
to help secure crucial victories, saw them home. Zaccarelli made 25
international appearances, the highlight being the game against France at the
1978 World Cup, where he came on as sub and scored the winner in a 2-1 victory.
He retired in 1987, with over 300 appearances for Torino under his belt; he
returned to the club to undertake various coaching roles, including a brief
spell as first-team manager in 2004-05.
